Itchy

My scalp is itching like hell and I don't know why. I checked nappaturality and some say your hair itch when your hair is growing out, some say its from buildup, other say to add some peppermint oil(I've done that and it still itches), some say its for medical reasons.

I am juat going to believe that my hair is getting used to the oils and showing its ass, lol.

I am going to do more research.

Finally!

So last night I finally was able to start my hair journey.

My regime last night Friday January 23rd:
no poo
acv rinse to get rid of buildup(my scalp LOVED it)
trimmed my dead ends
two strand twist with Shea butter seal twist with Coconut oil
Message my scalped using Hay's oil for two minutes
Wrap my hair in a silk scarf and viola!

It may sound like a lot, but I had my sister helping me so it wasn't so bad.

So this morning, I undid a twist and was amazed how soft my hair was! I never had soft hair because it was always dry and brittle, and it didn't help that I wasn't really taking care of my hair as I should.

But now I am and I can't wait to have a healthy head of hair!

Ugg

Friday can not get here any faster. Last night I lost a braid in the back of my head and dammit it had a hair in it. I am tired of losing my hair due to these braids. Before last night I was having doubts about giving up the braids, but last night losing my braid in the back with all the hair on it really pissed me off.

Bring on the friggin wig.

I can't WAIT for my hair to be free!

Final-freaking-ly!!!!!!

My oils arrived yesterday!!!!!!! Ok so New Directions Aromatics is a fave of mine with its speedy delivery, so from now on I will be using their services.

Also, I finally received my oils from Vitaglo after waiting too long and my Rosemary oil didn't even ship because its backordered, whatever.

Anyway, while shopping in Bed, Bath and Beyond, I found out they sell essential oils as well! Annnd they sell Shaiki and Giovanni products as well, so score for me!

The less items I have to order over the net, better for me!

So now I'm just waiting for my Shea Butter and once that arrives, sometime next week, I can finally go about getting my wig!!!!!!!!

Wohooo!

Websites that I've used...

Vitacost.com has shotty customer service and they have no idea what they are doing. Trust me that will be the last time I use that company. I definitely have to find a essential oils retailer, I don't have the patience to wait for shipping dates.

Maybe I will start making bulk orders to cut this down...hopefully my first set of oils arrive tomorrow.

*crosses fingers*

Expectations

While I impatiently await the arrival of my oils and supplies, my hair is itching to be free. Each day is trying as I wish my damn oils would arrive so I can jumpstart this hair journey.

Anyhoots, here are some things I promised myself when I begin this journey...

1.) No more looking at photos at Nappnaturality.com. Everyone hair is different, everyone hair grows at a different rate, so no need to compare how long my hair is to XYZ at 3 months. It won't do me any good.

2.) EAT BETTER AND TAKE MY VITAMINS....which is pretty self explanatory.

3.) To care for my hair and realize all the myths that I grew up believing(u shouldn't wash your hair so much, don't grease your hair while wet because it causes buildup, etc)were just that, myths.

4.) Don't expect my hair to grow into a big afro after one month, hair growth takes time and I have to learn to have patience with my hair, it.will.grow, especially if I treat it right!

5.) To stop reflecting on disappointment. I look back at time when I went natural at 2005 and I believe that my hair would be right where I wanted it to be had I been more adamant about taking care of my hair. I have to learn to let the past go and there is no need to cry over spilled milk. I am making the changes NOW and that is all what matters.

Well hello nappies!

I decided to start a new blog to follow my journey to the fro of my dreams!

History: I've been natural since 2005. I can't even remember the last time I got a perm. I decided to go natural because I was broke and couldnt afford the salon visits for the bi-weekly trim. So during that time I said eff perms and hello BRAIDS. Well, I thought braids were going to be the end all and be all of my hair care.

Its not.

During that time I wasn't taking care of my braids as I should have. I've been re-braiding my hair every 2 months and I've been really inconsistent treating my natural hair right. I think its was because I didnt like nappy hair, so I didn't care for my hair.

That all changed during the summer of 2008.

During that time, I decided to introduce the world to my natural hair. So I spent over $100 dollars getting my hair cut and styled in a cute fro that lasted two weeks.

Never again.

It was hard to manage and I felt sooo ugly. It was a definite trying time for me.

Fastfoward to 2009, and I've been reading different blogs about how to take care of your natural hair. Who KNEW there was a wealth of information on how to care for your kinks? Well I decided to take the jump and go full force with embracing my naps and taking care of my hair.

So I went out an ordered a bunch of oils(peppermint, olive, rosemary, cedarwood, thyme) so I can use them in various methods to aid my hair growth.

I even purchsed multi-vitamins that are benefical to hair growth.

I'm pumped!

Now I want my hair to look like this but BIGGER:

However, since my hair isnt there YET, I will be wearing one of these:

That's my goal, so this blog is going to document my journey through nappiness.
